Make Item Explained

Production Items serve as a way to store process information about how a part is made.

Production Items ****contain fields for names, top level descriptions, store documents, and contain operations.

Reading the chart from left to right gives us an example of how the tan bubbles are inventory that can come from both producing or purchasing the part. The green bubbles are operations that are sequently entered into a Production Item, this way the scheduling can be done in an optimized fashion where only operations that have have the correct inventory and resources available will be run.

Operations are individual work units that contain names, rich rich text descriptions, and default start counts that are provided to the operator through the operator ****interface. Operations are assigned to resource ****groups that the operation can be completed on.

StartProto tracks parts and processes throughout the manufacturing of an item and uses this data to detect bottlenecks within the system that may be limiting throughput.

Assembly Example

Creating an assembly item requires a slightly different visual that may be useful when trying to map the steps in the system.

Above we can see that an assembly still consist of the same components (operations, input parts, purchase parts, and production items).

Creating a Production Item

The Production Items page can be found in the primary navigation menu of the StartProto system. See below for visual.

After you have landed on the Production page you will be able to view all of your production items. See example below.
